+++ 193 people rescued – two bodies recovered +++

13th January 2017

Today SOS MEDITERRANEE has rescued 193 people from a completely overstaffed rubber dinghy. 2 bodies were recovered, including a minor.

“193 persons on a rubber boat, this is an absolute record, we had never rescued so many people from one rubber boat. Our last record was 168 during a previous rescue and we thought it was the maximum. We are lucky that we found only two dead, they were packed like sardines on this embarkation” said Alexander Moroz, captain of the Aquarius.

Only yesterday, SOS MEDITERRANEE rescued 26 people from a smal wooden boat.
